Storm Close Out Their Season With Victory Over the Bison

The Crimson Storm dominate Oklahoma Baptist, 49-21, to earn third win in a row

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Crimson Storm made the quick trip to Shawnee for their final game of the 2024 season. The SNU offense showed out as the Storm captured their third victory in a row, 49-21 over Oklahoma Baptist.

Both squads went to work in the first quarter, but the Storm (3-8, 3-8 GAC) struck first in SNU's first drive of the game Bryson Evans connected with Braxton Burd for a 43-yard touchdown pass to get the Storm on the board first in Shawnee. Kameron Van Prooyen notched the extra point, giving SNU an early 7-0 lead. The Bison (2-9, 2-9 GAC) responded with their next possession knotting up the score going into the second quarter.

The Crimson Storm put together just three plays as Evans found Burd once again to give SNU a 14-7 lead with 9:26 left to play in the first half. Once again Oklahoma Baptist responded with a 5-yard to the endzone to tie the score at 14 all.

The SNU offense continued to roll putting together a 64-yard drive as Kaden Manuel found the endzone to put the Crimson Storm back in front. An onside kick from Van Prooyen worked in the Storm's favor as they began their drive at the OBU34. Evans found Donavaughn Hill for a 34-yard pass touchdown to give SNU a 28-14 lead going into the halftime break.

The Storm picked up right where they left off to begin the second half as CJ Cardenas made a five-yard run to extend the SNU lead once again, 35-14. It was a defensive battle for the rest of the third quarter as neither team was able to notch another score.

The Crimson Storm put together another strong drive this time for just 45-yards. Carlos Zepada got in on the scoring fun with a 26-yard run for a touchdown to keep the momentum with Southern Nazarene. Shortly after, Ariyon Welch tacked on another rushing touchdown for SNU, pushing the Storm lead to 49-14.

The Bison were able to tack on one final touchdown on a three-yard run to cut the SNU lead to 49-21 with just two seconds left on the clock. The clock quickly ran securing the final victory of the season for the Storm in Shawnee.

The Crimson Storm will now set their sights on their off season preparations as well as their 2025 season.
