EDMOND, Okla.—After one month away from tournament play, Southern Nazarene Women's Golf returned to tournament action on Monday and Tuesday at the annual Grace Shin Regional Preview at the Kickingbird Golf Club hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma.
For the third tournament in a row, Haley Whittern paced Southern Nazarene as she finished T-27th in the field. Her 6-over round two dropped her a bit on the leaderboard after she posted a score of just 1-over in round one. She tallied 3 birdies over her 36 holes in the tournament.
Freshman, Riley Rinner was phenomenal in round two as she collected three birdies and finished at even-par, improving 11 strokes from round one. This allowed her to jump 49 spots on the individual leaderboard on the final day.
The Crimson Storm struggled to find their momentum on day one as they shot 352 (+72) as a team. They bounced back in with a much better 324 (+44) in round two.
Esther Santos, Allison Wylie, and Darci DeWitt rounded out the SNU lineup, with each significantly improving on their round one scores in round two.
Central Missouri came away with the team title at +13 as they edged Harding by two strokes. Harding's Pilar Martinez and Northwest Missouri State's Paige Hoffman tied for the individual title at 2-under.
The Crimson Storm will be back on the course next week in Maryville, Missouri for the Midwest Golf Classic. The Midwest Golf Classic will round out the Storm's fall slate.
