Storm Come Up Short Against ECU

SNU falls 3-2 to East Central

ADA, Okla. - Southern Nazarene hit the field in Ada to face the East Central Tigers in their third conference matchup of the season.

Adison Johnson wasted no time, putting SNU (4-3-1, 2-1 GAC)  on the board just eight minutes in with a crisp goal to the back of the net. Not even two minutes later, Natalie Montanez kept the momentum rolling, snagging another goal to give the Storm a 2-0 lead as soon as the game kicked off.  However, ECU( 2-7-1, 1-2-1 GAC) was not backing down with 18:24 on the clock, Haleigh Goodson, assisted by Abbie Morris, found her shot and cut SNU's lead to 2-1.

The Storm came close to stretching their lead as Bella Morgas had a solid shot, but the Tigers goalkeeper, Madison Mayhall, came up big with a save to keep things tight. Right before halftime, ECU snagged a penalty kick, and Morris kicked it in to even the score at 2-2 as the teams headed to the break.

The second half was a battle as both teams tried to take control. SNU's Millie Butler and Ella Adams took their shots, but Mayhall was there to stop them every time. Then, with 57:37 on the clock, ECU's Emily Green slipped one past the Storm defense, with an assist from Ximena Resendiz, giving East Central a 3-2 lead.

The Crimson Storm kept pushing, with Montanez and JQ Molgaard taking a last minute shot with just a little time left in the match. As the time ran out SNU couldn't find the tying shot, and ECU held on to snag the win.
