Storm Defeats Rogers State 2-1

Beja shines again as SNU secures a key road victory

CLAREMORE, Okla. -  Southern Nazarene grabbed an impressive road win over Rogers State Wednesday evening, beating the Hillcats 2-1 on their home turf.

It didn't take long for SNU (8-3-3, 5-1-2 GAC) to make their mark, as Lucas Beja kicked things off with a goal with just nine minutes into the game, putting the Storm up 1-0. Beja kept pressing, but his next shot went wide left not long after.

The Storm didn't let up, as Axel Agurcia and Esteban Ramirez both tacked on shots, but Rogers State's (5-5-4, 5-1-2 GAC) goalkeeper, Declan Viljoen, was working hard to keep them in the game.

The Crimson Storm's defense held their ground, with Andrej Krivokapic making a clutch save right before halftime, making sure Ashton Medina's shot did not go in, keeping SNU up 1-0 as they headed into the break.

SNU came out strong again in the second half, with Beja stepping up to score his second goal  of the night with 45:16 on the clock, pushing the lead to 2-0.

However, Rogers State quickly answered with a goal from Kaleb Trussell just a few minutes later, cutting the lead to 2-1.

The game went back and forth, with Unaiz Shajani almost adding another goal, but Viljoen kept blocking shots. Meanwhile, Krivokapic stayed solid for the Storm, shutting down Rogers State's chances. After a tie in their last matchup against the Hillcats, SNU sealed the 2-1 victory this time.
