Storm Tie 1-1 with Fort Hays State on the Road

SNU takes early lead, but late goal from FHSU forces a tie

HAYS, Kansas -  Southern Nazarene hit the road for a showdown against Fort Hays State. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, marking the second time these two teams clashed this season.

It didn't take long for SNU (7-3-3, 4-1-2 GAC)  to make their mark on the game. Only 10 minutes into the contest, Junior Duran found the back of the net with a perfectly placed shot, assisted by none other than Unaiz Shajani. That 1-0 lead had Fort Hays State ( 7-3-2, 4-2-1 GAC) scrambling to respond, but a couple of shots from Tadhg Walsh and Marcos German were not enough to tie the score.

Axel Agurcia fired off a shot for the Storm at 23:49 on the clock just missing the goal. German sent another ball toward the top of the goal for the Tigers, only to have it saved by Andrej Krivokapic. SNU headed into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

As the second half kicked off, Junior Duran aimed for a second goal early in the half, but Fort Hays tightened up their defense. Just when it seemed like SNU might walk away with the win, Fort Hays State's German struck with only a  minute left in the game with an assist from Bryce Dickerson, leveling the score at 1-1.

With little time left, both teams held firm, and the match ended in a draw.
