SNU Rolls Past NSU for Fourth Straight Win

Zamora and Duran lead the Storm to a 2-0 Victory

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Southern Nazarene made the trip to Tahlequah and clinched a 2-0 victory over Northeastern State. This win marks four in a row for the Crimson Storm.

SNU's (7-3-1, 4-1 GAC) Diego Zamora came out firing, taking a shot with only six minutes on the clock that just missed the top right corner. Unaiz Shajani had the NSU (2-6-3, 2-3 GAC) goalkeeper, Gonzalo Castells, on alert with a bottom right shot that was saved with 11:09 on the clock. Northeastern State's Mario Sapena tested Andrej Krivokapic with 21:25 on the board, but Krivokapic made the save look easy.

The back and forth continued throughout the first half, with Shajani just missing another shot to the left just 29:11 into the game. The Riverhawks tried to answer right back with a bottom left shot by Carter Adams at 32 minutes, but Krivokapic was there once again to keep things even as the teams headed into halftime scoreless.

The second half Northeastern State's Ivan Lopez managed a strong shot to the top but Krivokapic was on it, keeping the match tied. Then, with 57:21 on the clock, Zamora finally broke through, scoring the Crimson Storms first goal and putting the Storm up 1-0. SNU kept the pressure on, and Junior Duran sealed the deal with a goal with only two minutes left in the game, pushing the lead to 2-0.

NSU tried to rally, with Carl Murch getting a last minute shot off with a minute left in the game, but it flew just over the top of the goal, securing SNU's victory.
