Storm Offense Explodes in Win Over Drury

SNU earns 3-1 victory over Drury

BETHANY, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene Men's Soccer team took the field on a warm Saturday afternoon for a matchup with the Panthers of Drury University. An electric offensive performance from the Storm in the second half propelled them to a victory over the Panthers 3-1.

In a full 90-minute battle both teams brought their best to play. The Storm (2-1-1, 0-0 GAC) and the Panthers (0-2-2, 0-0 GLVC) executed well throughout the entire match, especially in the first half. The first half was gridlocked with a score of 0-0. Neither team could seem to punch one in the back of the net.

Drury would open up the first 10 minutes of the second half with a goal, putting them ahead 1-0. After the Panther goal, the intensity cranked up and so did the Storm offense.
The Storm took over in the second half starting with the tying goal from Juan Rodarte on a Bruno Ferreira assist knotting up the score 1-1. Shortly after, Ferreira took one himself, getting one by the Panther goalie, gaining the 2-1 lead for the Storm.

Unaiz Shajani shot the ball well all game for the Storm. He was eventually set up perfectly on a Ferreira assist to score and increase the Storm lead to 3-1.
The Storm finished the match with an astounding 27 shots while the Panthers only recorded seven.

The Storm defense was also nails after allowing only a single Panther goal. Alvaro Sanchez and Miguel Torrecillas played big roles in the Storm defense. The Storm defense only allowed three shots on goal the entire match.

The Storm would seal the deal with three goals and pull away with a strong win against the Panthers.
