BETHANY, Okla. - For the first time since 2015 the Southern Nazarene University Women's Soccer team opens their season with back-to-back shutout wins. September 2, 2023, marked the first meeting of the Storm and the visiting Lopers of Nebraska-Kearney. The Storm continued their hot offense coming away with a strong 4-0 win on their home turf.
The visiting Lopers (0-1, 0-0 MIAA) battled to keep up with the hot shooting Storm (2-0, 0-0 GAC) offense, but could not keep up. The Storm outshot the Lopers 15-6 with 11 shots on goal.
Natalie Montanez sparked the offense for the Storm, punching in a penalty kick at the 38-minute mark putting the Storm on the board. Bella Morgas sparked the offense in the second half and would go on to score two goals on penalty kicks as well. Kenzie Macklin would hit another penalty kick for the Storm making that four goals scored on penalty kicks.
Offense was not the only bright spot for the Storm, their defense also played a large role in the win. Goalkeeper Gianna Bonnett had an incredible five saves to keep the Lopers off the board. JQ Molgaard was also a wall for the Storm on defense.
Head Coach Josh Smith saw some great things from his newcomers that have led the Storm to have their best start since 2015.

The Storm will be back at home Wednesday, September 6, to take on the Eagles of Oklahoma Chrisitan at Wes Harmon Field. The set kick-off time is 7:00 p.m.
