SNU battles with the Rangers to finish in a tie

BETHANY, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene Women's Soccer team returned home to continue Great American Conference play. The visiting Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers did not make things easy for the Storm, forcing a tie of 2-2.

The Storm (5-1-2, 1-0-1 GAC) and the Rangers (1-3-4, 1-0-2 GAC) battled for 90 minutes straight. The Storm offense and defense were alive and well against the visitors from Alva. The Storm looked to continue their streak of shutouts but the Rangers said otherwise.

The Storm struck early in the first half thanks to a Natalie Montanez Penalty kick. The Storm continued to shoot but could not find the back of the net. The Rangers used the last minutes of the half to tie the score, 1-1.

Both teams shot the ball well in the first half. The Rangers led the way with seven shots while the Storm tallied six.

The Storm only needed one minute to snag the lead. Montanez collected her second goal of the match courtesy of a Mallory Bennett assist. The Storm regained their lead and continued to put pressure on the Rangers. The Rangers did not give in and scored, tying the score, 2-2.

The Storm struggled to get another clear shot on goal leaving the score in a draw. The Rangers did not let up, out-shooting the Storm 9-7 in the second half.

Gianna Bonnett continued to be a wall for the Storm, collecting 10 saves on the day.
