SNU Grabs a Late Win Over Tigers

The Storm takes down ECU, 1-0, thanks to a late second half goal

BETHANY, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene Women's Soccer team continued GAC play on their home turf hosting the East Central University Tigers. The Storm and the Tigers went head to head in a defensive battle, but the Storm came out on top, 1-0.

The Storm (6-1-2, 2-0-1 GAC) hit the field for their 22nd meeting with the Tigers (0-7-1, 0-0-1). The Storm came out on top in the last meeting with the Tigers in the 2022 season, 1-0. The Storm looked to continue to perform well in conference play and stay in the win column.

The Storm offense came out a bit flat to begin the match. The Storm only tallied four shots in the first half compared to an ECU six. Bella Morgas led the Storm in the first half with three shots and Kaitlyn Deaton followed with one. The Storm defense continued to play to their strengths and help out their keeper Gianna Bonnett

The Tigers defense did not let up and continued to shoot and were denied. The Storm defense remained tough as well making it difficult for the Tiger offense to gain control. Morgas continued to lead the SNU offense, taking some great shots on goal. Natalie Montanez broke the scoreless tie putting one in the back of the net on a Kenzie Macklin assist. That would be all the offense the Storm would need to win the match.

Bonnet finished the match with four saves thanks to the help of some stellar defense from Millie Butler, JQ Molgaard, Avery Pyle, and Natalie Nolen. The Storm offense finished off the day with 12 shots while the Tigers had 13.
