BETHANY, Okla.—Nine Southern Nazarene University Rugby student-athletes were named Scholastic All-Americans by National Collegiate Rugby. These student-athletes became the first SNU students to earn this prestigious honor.
Austin Clemons, Creed Hicken, Parker Kennedy, Joe Robertson, Josh Robertson, Andrew Shadid, and Ethan Thomason all represented the men's team. The seven names marked 30% of the men's roster achieving Scholastic All-American status.
On the women's side, Miangel Gleeson and Tristain Lewis were named Scholastic All-Americans, making a total 20% of all SNU Rugby Athletes earning this honor.
The total NCR Scholastic All-American list featured 760 student-athletes from 148 schools. That number grew by over 60% from last year. In order to qualify as a Scholastic All-American, students must achieve at least a 3.5 GPA for the entire year, while also competing in 50% of the fall 15s A-side matches, or 50% of the spring 7s A-side tournaments.
