Tigers Shutout the Storm

SNU falls short on the road at Fort Hays State, 2-0

HAYS, Kan.- Southern Nazarene headed to the plains of Kansas to take on the Fort Hays State Tigers for the second time this season. The Storm was unable to answer back to the two Tiger goals, leaving them shutout, 2-0.

The Storm (11-4-2, 9-2 GAC) offense struggled to find a spark in their second meeting with the Tigers (8-6-2, 7-2-2 GAC). The Crimson Storm defeated Fort Hays State earlier this season 2-0 at home. The Storm entered the match with a three-game win streak that the Tigers ultimately snapped.

Although the Storm came out firing at the goal, they struggled to get one past a tough FHSU defense. The SNU defense was also hard at work in the first half not allowing a Tiger goal. Neither squad could collect a goal before the half leaving the score, 0-0.

The Tigers took advantage of a penalty kick during the 56th minute of the match to put them ahead, 1-0. The Storm went back to work and continued to shoot, but still struggled to find a hole in the goal. Fort Hays State stayed persistent as well, sneaking in a goal later in the match to extend their lead, to 2-0.

Unfortunately, the 12 shots tallied by the Crimson Storm were not enough to overcome the Tiger's lead. The Storm offense was led by Unaiz Shajani and Bruno Ferreira who both tallied four shots on the night.
