Storm Offense Cruises Past the Bisons

The SNU offense leads the way in the 7-2 victory over Harding

SEARCY, Ark. - The Southern Nazarene Men's Soccer team hit the road to take on the Harding Bisons. The No. 17 Storm exploded offensively and defeated the Bisons, 7-2.

The Storm (6-2-2, 4-0 GAC) met the Bisons (3-7-1, 1-4 GAC) for the 23rd time. The Storm won the last meeting between the two schools, 3-1, during the 2022 season. The Storm hoped to add a victory to their series record, and they did just that.

The Storm wasted no time taking the lead in the first half. Gabriel De Sousa was the first Storm player to score. De Sousa scored within the first four minutes of the match on an Unaiz Shajani assist. About a minute later, Shajani fed Bruno Ferreira a pass to extend the Storm lead, to 2-0. The Bisons held off the Storm, but not for long. Shajani took one for himself thanks to a Ferreira assist putting the Storm ahead 3-0 at the half.

The Storm offense continued to stay in control to begin the second half. Esteban Ramirez joined in on the scoring frenzy. Shajani assisted Ramirez, extending the lead, to 4-0. Shajani tallied his second goal of the night from Miguel Torrecillas and Ferreira's assists which stretched the lead even more, 5-0. Juan Rodarte jumped in on the fun putting one in the back of the net on a Ferreira assist, 6-0.

The Bisons' offense began to put some pressure on the Storm, scoring two within a minute. This shrunk the lead for the Storm, 6-2. The Storm was unphased and continued to take good shots. Orlando Castro sealed the deal for the Storm scoring the seventh goal of the night.

The Storm offense exploded for 25 shots on the day while the Bisons tallied 15. Six different players scored for the Storm in the match. Shajani led the way with two goals scored and three assists. Ferriera followed him with one goal and three assists in the match.
