EDMOND, Okla.—The Southern Nazarene University women's golf team competed in their third tournament of the year on Monday and Tuesday at the Grace Shin Invitational at the Golf Club of Edmond. After finishing in 14th after round one, the Crimson Storm climbed one spot to 13th in round two.
Southern Nazarene shot 634 (+66) as a team over the two rounds. They improved six strokes from round one to round two, shooting 320 (+36) in round one and 314 (+30) in round two.
Central Missouri won the tournament going away. They shot a very impressive 564 (-4) over the two rounds, finishing 29 strokes over second placed Minnesota State. UCM finished with the top three players in the field, all three of which shot under par for the tournament.
The Crimson Storm were led by Sara Armstrong and Hannah Torres, who tied for 42nd in the field after each shot 155. Armstrong finished with a team best 4 birdies in the tournament and improved from a 79 in round one to a 76 in round two. Torres was consistent in each round, following a 78 in round one with a 77 in round two.
Hallie Schultz followed Armstrong and Torres for SNU with a 65th place finish. She shot 161 for the two rounds, following her 79 in round one with an 82 in round two.
Haley Whittern and Natalie Lewis rounded out the SNU lineup by tying for 70th. They each shot 165. Whittern shot 85 in round one, followed by an 80 in round two. Lewis followed an 84 in round one with an 81 in round two.
SNU will be back to tournament action in three weeks for the Tulsa cup at the Club at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The Tulsa Cup will be SNU's final tournament of the fall schedule.
