Southern Nazarene Draws a Tie with Harding

The Storm snags a tie with the Bisons, 1-1

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm returned home to host the Harding Bisons. SNU and Harding battled back and forth for the full 90 minutes, but finished in a draw, 1-1.

The Storm (8-3-5, 4-2-4 GAC) brought the pressure early, putting up numerous shots on the Harding (3-8-6, 1-5-5 GAC) defense. Southern Nazarene shut out the Bisons earlier this season, 1-0. This marked the first time since 2017 that the Storm came out on top against Harding.

Both teams went back and forth offensively, trading possessions. SNU put the pressure on HU with a corner kick in the 40th minute of the match. The Storm took advantage of the corner kick to cause some chaos and did just that, troubling the Harding defenders to ultimately score on their own goal, giving the Storm a 1-0 lead.

The Bisons were quick to respond using the final minute of the match to tie the score, 1-1. A Harding shot off the crossbar worked in their favor allowing them to sneak one past the SNU defense. This left the score all knotted up going into halftime.

The Bions came out shooting to begin the second half. The Crimson Storm defense buckled down to not allow a second-half goal from HU. SNU could not string together a possession to go ahead, leaving the score knotted up to end the match.

Harding and Southern Nazarene played a similar match offensively. The Bison tallied 13 shots on the match while the Storm tallied 11. Gianna Bonnett continued to lead at the goal, collecting three saves in the match.
