BROKEN ARROW, Okla.—The Southern Nazarene Women's Golf team competed in their final tournament of the fall season, tying for 14th place in the 19 team field of the Tulsa Cup.
The Tulsa Cup was hosted by Rogers State at The Club at Forest Ridge in Broken Arrow. The course played as a 6,005 yard, par 72 and the tournament ran three rounds. Central Missouri led wire-to-wire to earn the team title, shooting 873 as a team. UCM's own Mia Rallo claimed the individual title as she shot three-under par over the three rounds.
Sara Armstrong led the way for SNU in the tournament as she claimed a T-36 finish. She struggled a bit in round one, shooting an 84, but bounced back with a 77 and 76 over the final two rounds for a three-round total of 237. She finished with six birdies and played extremely well on the par-fives, shooting 3-under on the longer holes.
Hannah Torres shot 244 (84-79-81) over three rounds on her way to a T-67 finish. Natalie Lewis was just two strokes behind Torres at 246. She led the team after a 76 round one and followed that with an 84 and 86 in rounds two and three. She finished 73rd for the tournament.
Haley Whittern and Hallie Schultz rounded out the SNU lineup. Whittern finished T-80 with a three-round score of 252 (80-78-94). Schultz was not far behind, finishing T-84 after a 255 total (86-86-83).
The Crimson Storm will now take four months off of tournament play before returning to action February 26-27 for the Natural State Classic in Cabot, Arkansas. SNU finished third at the same tournament one year ago.
