The Storm Snags Late Win Over SWOSU

A late Storm goal lifts them to a victory over the Bulldogs, 1-0

BETHANY, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm took to their home turf to take on the visiting Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs. The Storm snagged a late victory over the Bulldogs in a battle to the end.

The Storm (8-3-2, 4-2-1 GAC) looked to get in the win column against the Bulldogs (2-8-3, 2-3-2 GAC) for the first time since the 2020 season. SNU fell to SWOSU in their last match during the 2022 season, 4-1. SNU took a while to spark something offensively but ultimately found a spark in Bella Morgas to come out on top.

SWOSU came out shooting early, making things hard for the SNU defense. The Storm ultimately rose to the occasion fending off the Bulldog's 12 shots in the first half. Gianna Bonnett continued to be a wall for SNU making numerous leaping catches to keep SWOSU off the board in the first half. Neither team recorded a goal, leaving the score 0-0.

The match began to get scrappy as both teams battled to get on the board. Bonnett remained a wall at the goal for SNU in the second half, keeping the score at 0-0. The Storm began to brew something offensive, but unfortunately were unable to execute. The same went for their opponent. SNU utilized the last three minutes to snag the lead. Bella Morgas executed a stellar goal to get one past the Bulldog's keeper.

The Bulldogs outshot Southern Nazarene 14-8, but this did not phase SNU. The Storm offense was led by Morgas and JQ Molgaard who each tallied two shots on the match. Bonnett ended the night with nine saves.

The victory over the Bulldogs continues a historic season for the Crimson Storm collecting their eighth shutout win of the season and marking the most shutout wins in program history since moving to the Division II level.
