Late Comeback Not Enough for the Storm

SNU battled until the end, but ultimately fell to the Jets, 2-1

BETHANY, Okla. - The #17 Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm hit the field under the lights to face the Jets of Newman University. The Jets ruined a perfect SNU conference record by defeating the Storm Saturday night, 2-1.

The Jets (3-6-3, 2-4-1 GAC) took control early leaving the Storm (8-3-2, 6-1 GAC) to play catch up throughout the entire match. With numerous chances offensively, the Storm could not get a ball to land their way against a tough Newman defense.

The Jets and Storm went back and forth on possessions throughout the first half. SNU led the first half offensively with five shots, but Newman made the most of their three. Newman snuck one past the Storm goalkeeper, Andrej Krivokapic, to go ahead, 1-0 going into halftime.

Southern Nazarene looked to change the course of the match by utilizing numerous shots, but could not sneak one by a tough Jets defense. Newman did not go away and continued to shoot, putting pressure on the Southern Nazarene defense. Newman took advantage of a free kick during the 68th minute to stretch their lead, to 2-0.

Southern Nazarene struggled to get on the board with numerous unlucky shots blocked. SNU won the offensive battle on paper, outshooting Newman 19-12 in the match. The Storm finally got on the board thanks to a Daniel Trojman goal in the final minute of the match, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Unfortunately, the Storm could not get any more shots to go their way. The Crimson Storm offense was led by Trojman who collected four shots on the night followed by Unaiz Shajani and Esteban Ramirez who tallied three shots on the night.
