SNU defeats #22 RSU for the second time this season, 2-1

BETHANY, Okla. - In arguably the match of the season, #17 Southern Nazarene battled #22 Rogers State under the lights. SNU took care of business defeating RSU for the second time this season, 2-1.

The Storm (8-2-2, 6-0 GAC) remains untouched in conference play this season after snagging an unbelievable second-half goal over the Hillcats (7-3-2, 4-2 GAC). Rogers State has only collected two losses in conference play this season, both coming from SNU.

Southern Nazarene was solid all around to begin the match. They put pressure on the Hillcats early and never backed down. Bruno Ferreira struck first for the Storm, sinking a goal in the first eight minutes of the match. SNU took an early 1-0 lead, but this did not last long as RSU took little time to respond and knotted up the score, 1-1. This would be all the offense displayed in the first half for both teams.

The second half brought new intensity. The Storm continued to put pressure on the RSU defense but struggled to get a ball past the Hillcats goalkeeper. They continued to shoot and lock down their defense to fend off an aggressive Rogers State. In the final 15 minutes of the match, Alvaro Sanchez took a deep shot and buried it to put the Storm on top, 2-1. This killed all momentum for the Hillcats, allowing SNU to snag yet another top-25 victory.

The Storm offense was led by Ferreira who took some amazing shots, tallying seven on the night. Ferreira also scored a goal for SNU in the match. Not far behind was Unaiz Shajani who had four shots in the match. The SNU defense was stellar and so was keeper Andrej Krivokapic. Krivokapic made some leaping stops to keep Rogers State off the scoreboard. He ended the match with six saves.
