Storm Shutout by the Bison

SNU faced a tough OBU offense, ultimately falling, 3-0

BETHANY, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm continued their home stand hosting the Oklahoma Baptist Bison in a showdown under the lights. The OBU offense was hot, leaving SNU in the dust and defeating the Storm, 3-0.

Southern Nazarene (7-3-2, 3-2-1 GAC) looked to get back in the win column against the Bison (4-7-1, 3-2-1 GAC) after dropping a match to Ouachita Baptist last week. The Storm won their first game against the Bison since 2016 earlier this season. They hoped to create a streak of success against Oklahoma Baptist but ultimately fell short.

The SNU offense got off to a slow start against a tough OBU defense. The Bison outshot the Crimson Storm 8-3 in the first half. The SNU defense remained intact and held off the Oklahoma  Baptist in the first half leaving the score tied at zeros going into halftime. Gianna Bonnett also stayed busy at the net in the first half collecting five saves.

The Bison continued to put the pressure on the Storm coming out with big shots early in the second half. OBU utilized the first 10 minutes of the second half to bury a goal and gain the lead, 1-0. They continued to remain in control scoring their second goal of the match and stretching their lead, to 2-0. Southern Nazarene struggled to get something going offensively, while the Oklahoma Baptist continued to shoot. The Bison went on to score their third goal of the night adding to their lead, 3-0.

This would be all the offense OBU would need to defeat the Storm in shutout fashion. There were three different Bison that scored in the match. The Storm offense on the other hand struggled to get anything past the Bison goalkeeper. SNU finished the night with only six shots while OBU tallied a hefty 22.
