Storm Defeats #16 NSU in Shutout Fashion

#22 SNU defeats NSU to continue GAC/MIAA play

BETHANY, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene Men's Soccer team continued their home stand against the visiting Northeastern State Riverhawks. The Storm's offense propelled them to a victory over the #16 Riverhawks, 3-0.

The #22 Storm (5-2-2, 3-0 GAC) met the #16 Riverhawks ( 3-2-2, 1-2 GAC) for their 22nd meeting. The Storm defeated the Riverhawks in their last meeting during the 2022 season, 1-0 in overtime. The Storm looked to continue their streak of clean GAC/MIAA play against NSU.

The Storm controlled the first half putting the pressure on the Riverhawks. The Storm was aggressive, tallying 13 shots in the first half. The Storm struck first with a goal by Gabriel De Sousa off a goalkeeper deflection. Shortly after, Orlando Castro stretched the lead for the Storm on a Bruno Ferreira assist. The Storm would lead at the half, 2-0.

The Storm defense was a force to be reckoned with in the second half. The Storm defense fended off numerous shots by the Riverhawks. The Storm offense continued to increase the pressure on the Riverhawks. Juan Rodarte found an empty goal adding to the Storm lead, 3-0. This would be all that the heavy shooting Storm needed to secure the victory over the Riverhawks.

The Storm defense was spectacular alongside goalkeeper Andrej Krivokapic. The Riverhawks were only able to collect six shots on the night while the Storm offense exploded for 21 shots.

The Storm offense and defense were locked and loaded against the Riverhawks allowing the Storm to come away with their third win in a row of GAC/MIAA play.
