BETHANY, Okla.—Southern Nazarene continued their winning streak with a 70-48 victory over Henderson State on Saturday afternoon inside the Sawyer Center.
From the opening tip off on, it was clear that the Crimson Storm (10-2, 6-0 GAC) were ready to play. They jumped out to an early lead on the Reddies (7-5, 4-2 GAC), with Eain Mowat leading the charge. Mowat was on fire from beyond the arc, sinking four three-pointers and matching Tyler McGhie with a game-high 15 points. McGhie knocked down three shots from deep on the way to his 15 points.
Once again, the Storm shot extremely well from the three-point line. They knocked down 10-of-19 (52.6%) shots from deep in the game. This, combined with their stifling defense, made it difficult for the Reddies to get anything going offensively. By halftime, the Storm had built a comfortable 36-21 lead. The lead continued to swell in the second half as the Storm pulled away to win 70-48.
Javon Jackson and Nick Davis also had strong performances for SNU, scoring 12 points each.
Maik Bouwer came off the bench to provide a spark with 4 points and 7 rebounds.
SNU remains in first place in the Great American Conference, and became the first team since SNU in 2017-18 to begin GAC play 6-0. They will hope to keep the streak rolling on the road next time out as SNU makes their first Arkansas trip of the season next week. The Storm will take on Arkansas Tech on Thursday in Russellville before a meeting with Harding on Saturday in Searcy. Tipoff with Arkansas Tech is set for 7:30 p.m. following the women's game.
