BETHANY, Okla. — After splitting their doubleheader with Arkansas-Monticello a day prior, the Storm (10-30, 6-21 GAC) headed into the series finale celebrating seniors EJ Taylor, Brian Brown, Koby Bowie, Triston Graves, and Noah Ellis for SNU's Senior Day. Struggles at the plate put SNU in a scoring slump, leaving the Weevils (18-20, 13-14 GAC) to crack open 15 hits for a final 8-2 series finale win.
The Game 3 action began in the 2nd with UAM putting up the first run off a fielder's choice.
The Storm tied it at 1-1 after two sacrifice bunts from Tyler Broyles and Drake Irby eventually gave Colby Entwistle a touch at every base, eventually hitting home.
The Weevils pulled away in the 3rd after an SNU fielding error allowed them to gain two RBI's bumping their lead to 3-1 before the side was retired.
The 4th and 5th innings were without a run from either side, resulting from just three hits total between both teams.
The momentum picked back up in the 6th, this time, in favor of the Storm as Entwistle sent one to the the back for a double to plate EJ Taylor for the 2-3 trail.
The Weevils tacked on two more runs in 7th after a single up the middle earned them two RBI's to put the score at 5-2. They snuck in another in the 8th to quickly claim a four-run lead over SNU at 6-2 with an inning and a half up for grabs.
SNU fell into a bit of trouble in the final inning, after the Weevils put up an RBI triple followed by an RBI single to extend their lead to 8-2, leaving SNU to scrape together a comeback in the final stanza.
Plate struggles continued for the Storm, leading to three quick outs and UAM series finale win of 8-2.
Entwistle, Irby, and Brown were the only players able to see a hit that game. Entwistle and Irby both recorded and RBI in the process.
Triston Graves and Jacob tagged team on the bump with Graves pitching a whole seven innings with one strikeout recorded. Owen put up an impressive final two innings, striking out three UAM players in his appearance.
Southern Nazarene will head back on the road for another East Central matchup Tuesday, April 19th for a doubleheader scheduled for 2:00 PM.
