BETHANY, Okla. — There were plenty of smiles to go around Saturday afternoon as Southern Nazarene put up another beatdown to an Arkansas team as they racked up the 88-42 vicctover over Arkansas-Monticello.
Shutting down Southern Arkansas by 46 points two days prior, the Storm (19-8, 14-6 GAC) decided to hit replay, outscoring the Monticello by (0-25, 0-18 GAC) 46 points, with a 50 percent shooting clip to go along with a whopping 68 paint points that afternoon.
To no surprise, SNU set the tone early on, putting up 21 points to Monticello's 10 in the first quarter, with 13 of those coming off the Storm's fiery fast-break game.
Miniature runs inside the second allowed the Storm to erupt for 28 second quarter points, giving them the eye-popping 49-22 advantage at the half.
The offesnive continued to pile on the points in the third, while the defense effort allowed the Blossoms to score eight that quarter, widening SNU's gap to 75-30 with the final 10 minutes left to be played.
Head Coach Trent May sent much of his starters to the bench in the fourth, giving other Storm members a ton of action in the final stretch of the contest, and the last five on the floor capped of the game with a 88-42 victory over Monticello.
Continuing her performnace on both ends of the court, Emily Monaghan put up a game-high 17 points while grabbing six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Adding yet another double-double to her bag this season, Cassandra Awatt grabbed scored 15 that afternoon while grabbing 10 boards and three steals.
Georgia Adams continued to shine off the bench, matching her career high in scoring with 15 to go along with five boards. Teammate Abby Niehues put up 10 that evening, grabbing six boards in the process along with two blocks and steals a piece.
Kennedy Gillette set a new career-high in steals, tallying eight that afternoon while scoring nine and grabbing two boards and assists each. Lillie Smith also added nine to the scoring column, also grabbing two rebounds as well.
The Storm climbed up to a No. 2 placement in the conference standings after Harding lost to Northwestern Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon. SNU will see a pivotal matchup Thursday, February 24th as they head to Alva to take on the Rangers of Northwestern, which will be there last regualr season road game of the year. Tip-time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
