EDMOND, Okla.—The Southern Nazarene Women's Golf team competed in their third tournament of the year on Monday and Tuesday, placing ninth at the Grace Shin Invitational at the Golf Club of Edmond.
Oklahoma City University easily won the tournament at 580 (+12). They built an almost insurmountable lead in round one after shooting even par as a team. They finished with three players in the top four of the field, including individual winner Paige Wood, who shot even par both days.
As a team, SNU shot 346 (+78). They improved by two strokes on day two, improving from a 324 showing in round one to a 322 in round two.
Southern Nazarene was led on the course by Hannah Torres, who finished T-26 on the leaderboard. She was consistent both days, following up a 78 (+7) in round one with a 79 (+8) in round two. She tied for the tournament lead in Par-3 scoring at 1-under.
Hallie Schultz, Sara Armstrong, and Rebecca Davis all finished back-to-back as Schultz took a two-round score of 162 (+20), Armstrong shot 163 (+21), and Davis shot 164 (+22). Schultz led the team in round two, shooting 78 (+7).
Natalie Lewis rounded out the scoring for SNU. She went 84-92 for a two-round score of 176 (+34).
The Crimson Storm will be back in action on October 16-17 in Hot Springs, Arkansas for the Battle of the Belt in their final tournament of the fall schedule.
