Strong Bulldog offense topples SNU 4-1 in Weatherford

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - In their last road game of the season, Southern Nazarene fell 4-1 to a tough Southwestern Oklahoma State squad.

The Bulldogs (6-4-7, 6-0-5) put on an efficient offense the entire match, firing 26 shots with half of them in range. The Storm (5-10-2, 1-8-2) were less active on the offensive end, but were near perfect as they had five of their six shots on goal.

The Bulldogs exploded in the first 10 minutes of the match, scoring two goals in the fifth and eighth minutes to take an early 2-0 start over the Storm.

SNU was unable to get anything going in the first half and the Bulldogs maintained the 2-0 lead going into halftime.

Fallon Weatherford sparked the offense for the Storm out of the break as she punched in a goal just two minutes into the second half. The Bulldogs were able to answer a few minutes later, picking their lead back up to 3-1.

Southwestern kept up their intensity in the 64th minute with another shot that struck the back of the net, putting them up three over the Storm at 4-1.

SNU worked hard to cut the deficit, but couldn't match SWOSU's momentum with the time remaining. The second half came to a close and SWOSU called victory with a final score of 4-1.

Weatherford finished with three shots on goal while Josie Van Pelt finished with two shots on goal.

SNU will host Northwestern Oklahoma State University Saturday, October 29th at 5 p.m. The Storm will also celebrate Senior Day for the two seniors Eden Holetsky and Madison Morgan.
