Bison Handle Storm

SNU unable to create a spark in loss to OBU

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Southern Nazarene battled a tough Oklahoma Baptist squad Tuesday evening in Shawnee, falling to the Bison 4-0 in their second meeting this season.

The Bison (6-7-2, 5-2-2) used their home advantage and an energetic offense to power through the Storm (4-9-2, 1-7-2), tacking on one more win to their schedule this season.

OBU flooded SNU's side of the field the entire first half, firing shot after shot until the Bison punched in their first goal at the 10-minute mark. The Storm tried to answer with a shot from Kaitlyn Deaton at the 21-minute mark, but the OBU keeper deflected the potential tie.

The Bison were quick to add another score to the board seconds after, working to a 2-0 lead midway through the first half. SNU contained OBU's fire with the time remaining, leaving the Bisons to claim a 2-0 lead heading into the break.

OBU's energy was ignited quickly into the second half as the Bison scored their third goal two minutes in. The Bison defense proved to be hot as well, keeping the Storm from seeing any opportunities on the Bison's side of the field.

With 20 minutes remaining in the match, OBU snuck one more goal in to grow their lead to 4-0 over the Storm. That was the last of the scoring for OBU in that match and the Bison ended victorious 4-0 over SNU.

Deaton and Hannah Schaffer each tallied a shot on goal in the match.

SNU will have a quick turnaround as they are set to host Randall University in Bethany on Thursday, October 20th at 6 p.m. This will be SNU's last non-conference match of the season.
