War Hawks Soar Over Storm

SNU comes up short against McMurry in game five

BETHANY, Okla. — Competing in their second home game of the season, The Southern Nazarene Women's Soccer team took a 3-1 loss against McMurry University Tuesday night.

With their first meeting in history, the War Hawks (4-2), take the first victory of the series over the Storm (0-5), outshooting SNU 22-15 and notching seven saves to the Storm's five on the night.

McMurry would strike first just past the 30th minute and the score would remain 1-0 for the remainder of the half. Action was stagnant up until the 69th minute when the War Hawks would earn another goal to extend their lead 2-0 over SNU.

Just before the 80th minute, Alejandra Andrade would give SNU their first point on the board as she drilled one to the back of the net. As time was winding down, things were speeding up as the Storm attempted to gain one more successful shot. Right at the 84th minute, McMurry would secure the victory with their third and final score of the night.

Andrade served as the spark for the Storm, racking up six total shots with three on target and one as the single SNU goal. Kaitlyn Deaton also added to the energy with both of her two shots on target for the night. Saira Zamarripa tallied two shots with one on goal while Eliya Alvidrez totaled five saves in goal and Kierra Wright took one shot on target for the Storm.

The Storm head to Odessa, Texas this Thursday to take on Texas Permian Basin with kickoff set for 5 p.m.
