BETHANY, Okla. — Whatever Head Coach Trevor Harmon told his squad at halftime definitely worked for the Storm the remaining 45 minutes of their second home game of the season.
The Southern Nazarene University Men's Soccer team overcame a scoreless first half, dominating the Eagles 3-1 in Bethany in the second. The Storm-Eagles matchup is nothing new. SNU (3-1) managed to end their three game losing streak to OC (1-1-1) as they defeated the Eagles for the first time since 2015.
Yellow cards were given left and right that evening, but the Storm pushed through the intensity, outshooting the Eagles 17-9 with eight of those hitting on target for the Storm. After the break, the Storm turned up the heat as Orlando Castro fired one in first to give SNU a 1-0 lead over the Eagles.
It was only up from here for SNU as Kazuki Okazaki sent one to the back allowing SNU to creep away from the Eagles as the second half starts to wind down. To cap off the night, a late goal by Harei Maeda would give SNU the 3-0 lead right at the 89th minute securing them another home victory of the 2021 season.
OC would sink one in just as the match comes to a close, but SNU's dominate offense would secure them the win making it their second on Wes Harmon Field this season.
Castro tallied one goal for the night as did Maeda and Okazaki for the Storm. Ramiro Jimenez secured three saves for the Storm while Nathaniel Mederos and Juan Rodarte each added some positive play on the night while Shun Kushima tallied one assist.
The Storm are set to stay in Bethany for their third consecutive home game where they welcome West Texas A&M to the field September 16th at 6 p.m.
