BETHANY – The Southern Nazarene Baseball team (8-32, 6-27 GAC) concluded their season in a 9-3 loss to the Ouachita Baptist Tigers (18-22, 14-19 GAC) on Friday afternoon at Feland Field.
After OBU got out to a 3-0 lead, a
Noah Ellis solo shot over left field put a run on the board for SNU. Ouachita's offense continued to flow through the next few innings as they tacked on four more to have the score read 7-1 going into the bottom of the 7
th. SNU's last scores of the day came from
Landon Walker who smacked a two-run homer over left center, his second of the series, to bat
Noah Ellis in.
Noah Ellis and
Landon Walker led the way for the Crimson Storm as each homered while going 2-for-3 and 1-for-3, respectively. Other notables were
Brian Brown and
Cole Embrey who hit on one of their three attempts apiece.
Seven SNU pitchers took the mound as the Crimson Storm struggled to find an effective bullpen rotation.
Elijah Brady clocked the most time as he pitched through 3.0 innings and struck out four.
Zach Birkle came in to strike out three in his one inning of work while
Kasen Jackson (L, 1-2) pitched for 1.2 innings.
Brett Rexroad,
Jarrett Phillips,
Brandon Rezek, and
Eric Gutierrez also all made appearances.
Southern Nazarene brings their 2021 season to an close and can look towards next year with a lot of optimism.
