Storm Fall in GAC Quarterfinals

SNU Softball falls 13-0 to Arkansas Tech in Bentonville.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Looking to make a postseason run and extend head coach Tere Webber's final season, Southern Nazarene's softball team fell 13-0 to Arkansas Tech on Friday afternoon in the Great American Conference quarterfinals.

The Crimson Storm ran into a buzz saw right from the opening pitch as they managed just one hit in the contest, while the Golden Suns' bats exploded for 13. Two errors in the field didn't help SNU as ATU scored at least three runs in every inning.

Senior pitcher Brooklyn Sparkman got the start in the circle for the Storm as she earned the loss after allowing eight runs on seven hits to go with a pair of strikeouts. Chelsea Vandiver and Cassidy Davila each saw action out of the bullpen as the duo gave up five runs on four hits combined.

Hailie Fellers was the only Storm hitter to record a base knock as she finished 1-for-2 in the game with her double.

Southern Nazarene got off to a nightmare start as Arkansas Tech's bats exploded for five runs in the bottom of the first as they took a 5-0 lead. After a quick three up and three down for SNU at the plate, the Golden Suns plated five more runs to balloon their advantage to 10-0. Tech went on to score three more runs in the third to put the game out of reach for the Storm in the final two innings.

Southern Nazarene finishes their season with a 20-20 record and graduate Mahina Sauer, Brooklyn Sparkman, Victoria Rodriguez, and Cassidy Davila in the offseason.
