Tigers Calm Storm

A trigger happy Ouachita Baptist club overpowers SNU 3-1 on Monday afternoon in Arkadelphia.

ARKADELPHIA, AR – The Southern Nazarene Women's team made the long trek to Arkadelphia, AR, to face-off against GAC foe Ouachita Baptist on Monday afternoon. The Crimson Storm (0-2-0, 0-2-0 GAC) would struggle to hold off the Tiger's offense (3-1-0, 1-0-0 GAC) as SNU would fall 3-1 at Kluck Field.

Ouachita Baptist shot plenty as they would total 28, 16 of those being on target. Southern Nazarene managed nine shots, with five registering on goal.

The scoring started early in the contest as three goals would pass the net before the second half. At the 9th and 11th minute marks of the game, OBU would chip the ball in twice to give them a two-score lead. SNU would quickly answer back at the 15:53 mark with a goal into the net's left-center by Junior Alejandre Andrade, the Storm's first goal of the season. The score would read 2-1, in favor of OBU, going into the break.

The second half was a tight matchup as the Crimson Storm held off the Tigers until a final score in the 72nd minute of the game.

Alejandre Andrade led the way for the Storm as she scored the lone goal of the game. Andrade would fire five shots, two on target on as she collected her first goal of the season. Josie Van Pelt got in on the action as she totaled two shots, two on goal. Delaney Stewart and Saira Zamarripa rounded the work off for SNU with one shot taken apiece.

Goalkeeper Maci Atalla was kept busy all afternoon as she faced 28 total shots. Atalla would come away with 13 saves in an attempt to slow down the trigger-happy Tigers.

Southern Nazarene will return to action next Saturday as they will play host to Southwestern Oklahoma State at 1:00 p.m.
