SHAWNEE, Okla. – Southern Nazarene's volleyball team was back in action Tuesday night on the road against No. 23 ranked Oklahoma Baptist inside the Noble Complex. SNU didn't have their best stuff as they fell 3-0 (8-25, 13-25, 14-25) on the road.
The Crimson Storm (2-3, 2-3 GAC) never could find a rhythm as they were held to a -.044 hitting percentage in the match. The Bison (4-0, 4-0 GAC) were red-hot on their home floor as they hit .320 and forced a season-high 24 errors out of the Storm. SNU managed just 19 kills in the match to go along with a season-low 39 digs. They produced five blocks compared to nine for the Bison.
Grace Miracle and
Whitney Bowie led the way for the Crimson Storm offensively, as the duo each had six kills. Miracle added five digs while Bowie registered a couple of blocks.
Breckynn Myers dished out 16 assists to go along with five digs while libero
Logan Matthews produced a team-high 14 digs.
Georgie Osborne,
Sunny Batschelett and
Jacy Braziel each chipped in with two kills for SNU as well.
Southern Nazarene got off to a nightmare start as they produced more errors than kills in the opening set. The Bison held the Storm offense to a -.161 hitting clip as they dominated the first set 25-8 to take the early 1-0 lead. SNU tried to get back on track in the second stanza but again committed more errors than kills in the frame. OBU registered three service aces in the set and took the frame 25-14 to put the Storm into a 2-0 hole.
The Crimson Storm just couldn't get their engines started in the third set as they committed seven more errors and were ousted 25-14 as the No. 23 ranked Bison took the match on their home floor.
Southern Nazarene will be back in action on the road next Thursday night as they travel to Weatherford to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State. SNU took the first meeting in five sets in their first game of the season and will look for the season sweep. First serve with the Bulldogs is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. inside the Pioneer Cellular Center.
