Tigers Take The W

Storm unable to answer Tigers’ lead in Arkadelphia

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — In their second matchup this season against Ouachita Baptist, the Southern Nazarene University Women's Soccer team faced a tough 7-0 loss to the Tigers who hosted the Storm on their own field in Arkadelphia Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers (8-3-1, 4-2 GAC) took every opportunity right from kickoff as they managed to take 38 shots with 18 on target. The Storm (1-12, 0-7 GAC) were unable to match these numbers but they saw a great shooting percentage as seven out of their nine shots taken where on target that match.

Once Ouachita saw a gap, they took advantage of every opening as they snuck in two quick goals at the 25th and 26th minutes. Starting at 2-0 halfway through the first, the Tigers took another successful shot three minutes later to extend their lead to 3-0. As the buzzer was one second shy of sounding to conclude the half, Ouachita managed to sneak another one in past the Storm leaving the halftime score to read 4-0.

The Tigers continued their lead coming into the second as they punched another one in just past the 48th minute and a second one right after the 59th to bring their lead up to 6-0. The Storm kept the Tigers at bay for a moment but momentum continued to pick up speed for Ouachita and they managed to score one more goal that half arriving at a 7-0 victory on their home field.

SNU's Nikki Lohr tried to kickstart the Storm's offense as each of her three shots were on target that afternoon. Karla Ramirez was adding to the offensive efforts as she tallied two shots with each of those on target. Sara Nichols and Kaitlyn Deaton also looked to change the pace for SNU as each of their shots were on goal for the Storm.

The Storm will continue their Arkansas trip as they head to Searcy to match up with the Bisons from Harding University Saturday at 9 a.m.
