Hillcats Edge Storm

Rogers State ends Storm’s undefeated conference streak in 2-0 win

CLAREMORE, Okla. — The trip to Claremore for the Southern Nazarene Men's Soccer team ends in heartbreak as Rogers State snaps their 5-0 conference win streak Thursday night.

Play was identical all night long as Rogers State (8-3-1, 4-2 GAC) secures 13 shots on the night with six of those on goal with SNU (8-4, 5-1 GAC) just short with 12 shots and three on goal. Yet, Rogers managed to punch in two late second half goals to secure the victory as they gave SNU their first GAC loss this season.

The board read 0-0 as the first 45 minutes was up with neither team having any offensive gains going into the half. Action was back and forth up until the 68th minute when Rogers State made the first move to give them the 1-0 lead. 12 minutes would pass and the Hillcats would send another one in putting them up 2-0.

The Storm would run out of time making it a final score of 2-0 in Claremore.

SNU's Shun Kushima saw many opportunities that night tallying four shots with one on target while teammate Angel Lopez tallied two shots with one on target. Federico Anzoletti also added to the offensive effort as he posted one shot with one on goal that evening.

In goal, Ramiro Diez grabbed five saves against the Hillcats.

The Storm will host Northeastern State for the second time this season in Bethany with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
