EDMOND, Okla. – Southern Nazarene alums
Mike Hearne and
Dylan Igo, as well as current golfer
Jacob Grellner are set to begin the Match Play portion of the OGA State Amateur on Tuesday morning at the Patriot Golf Club in Owasso.
Hearne qualified for the 64-man match play bracket after opening OGA Qualifying last weekend at the West course at Lincoln Park in Oklahoma City. Hearne carded what he called a disappointing 1-under 70, which was just enough to get him through to match play beginning today. Igo and Grellner both qualified for match play after competing in the second section of the OGA at Bailey Ranch in Tulsa. Igo posted an even-par round of 72 while Grellner carded a 1-over 73.
Also competing in the OGA State Amateur who failed to qualify for the match play are current Crimson Storm golfers
Will Coffman,
Saxon Ross,
Zander Tway, and
Tristan Florence. Coffman carded a 1-under 70 at Lincoln West but failed to qualify with the scorecard playoff. Ross posted an even-par 71, while Tway came in with a 72 and Florence with a 76. Former SNU alum
Jason Smith was also in that field and he carded a 2-over par 73.
Hearne will open match play this morning at 9:45 a.m. while Igo tees off at 9:10 a.m. and Grellner at 9:20 a.m. The match play event runs through July 23
rd should the Storm trio continue to win their matches.
