SNU splits with OBU

The Crimson Storm bounced back from a 10-7 loss to beat the Tigers 7-1 in the series finale.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Southern Nazarene walked onto Rab Rogers field with their hair on fire as they split two aggressive games with the Ouachita Baptist Tigers.
 
SNU (6-12, 1-7 GAC) fell 10-7 in the first game after a strong comeback attempt, but managed to redeem themselves in the finale by routing the Tigers (8-9, 4-5 GAC) 7-1 on Saturday evening, claiming their first GAC win of the season. 
 
Elijah Brady got the start on the mound for SNU as he pitched 3.0 innings, only allowing one run and striking out two. Brady was credited with the loss, bringing his season record to 0-4. Brandon Rezek would then come in as relief to face two batters, but was replaced by Brendan Boily who pitched for 2.0 innings. Jarrett Phillips and Clay Lockett would round things off on the mound as they struck out three batters combined. 
 
As for the game, the Storm were able to hop out to a hot start, scoring two runs in the 1stinning. However, the Tigers would make quick work of this lead as they put up five runs by the top of 5th, making the score 5-2. In the 7th, SNU would mount a four-run comeback to answer the total eight runs of OBU. Ouachita shut the door on things as they squeezed out two more runs in the 8th, ending the game at 10-7.
 
Austin Glock was the most efficient for SNU as he went 1-1 and brought in three batters. Brian Brown also had a solid outing as he was 1-2 at the plate, finishing with a scored run and an RBI. 
Caleb Desouza was another who was productive, going 2-4 and collected two RBI's. Lastly, was Ryan Lowery who was 2-5 batting and posted an RBI. 
 
In game two, the Storm turned their day around as they only allowed the Tigers to score one run. Again, SNU put together a two-run 1stinning and didn't look back afterwards. After a couple one-score innings in the 5thand 6th, Southern Nazarene made the 7th inning their own. Colten Cassida was walked, prompting a Dylan Scalice score when the bases were loaded. Then a passed ball would score Jarrett Phillips. Clay Lockett would cement the win with a single, bringing in Landon Walker, making the score 7-1. 
 
Triston Graves would pitch the entire seven innings as he faced a total of 26 batters and struck out four. As for the things at the plate, Tyler Broyles had himself a game, going 3-5, scoring two runs, and bringing in two more. Colten Cassida would ally this play by going 2-3 and collecting an RBI. Brian Brown was 2-4 and had an RBI as well. It was Landon Walker who was perfect at the plate as he was 2-2 and scored two runs. 
 
Southern Nazarene will be back in action this Tuesday as they take on Newman University (5-11, 1-1 GAC) in Wichita, Kansas. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
