SHAWNEE, Okla. - Nothing could go right for the Southern Nazarene softball team on Tuesday night as they were swept by rival Oklahoma Baptist 13-0 (5) and 8-1 on Bison Hill.
In game one it was a struggle from the first pitch as OBU put a five spot on the board thanks in part to a grand slam. The Bison added one in the second before scoring seven in the fourth on a second grand slam to move ahead 13-0.
SNU could only muster five hits scattered throughout the line up including a double from
Jacey James. However, it was not enough as SNU looked to shake off game one and refocus for the second contest.
Game two had a better pace for SNU with no score through three innings. OBU got one on the board in the fourth, but SNU answered in the fifth as
Victoria Rodriguez came through with a big RBI single to even it at one a piece.
However, OBU exploded again, scoring two in the bottom of the fifth and five more in the sixth to open the game up and run away with an 8-1 win, clinching the series over the Crimson Storm.
James had two hits in the game while Rodriguez had the RBI.
Skye Ah Yat had the lone run scored.
SNU drops to 20-22 overall nad 15-16 in the GAC. They'll look to shake this one off as they prepare for their final home weekend, welcoming in Southeastern Oklahoma State beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m.
