BETHANY - For the first time in school history, the Southern Nazarene women's golf team will compete at the NCAA Central Super Regional on May 6-8 at Muskogee Country Club in Muskogee, Okla. SNU was ranked 11th in the final regional rankings, earning the nod to move into the postseason.
It has been a breakthrough season for the Crimson Storm with many firsts since joining the Division II ranks. SNU shot under 300 for the first time in the
Derrick Taylor era en route to a second place finish at the Diffee Ford Invitational and also won their first event since 2012, taking the Natural State Golf Classic.
All that cumulated into an impressive fourth place finish at the GAC Championships, tying their best ever finish at the GAC Championships.
SNU is led by
Bailey Blake, who had a stroke average of 77.94 and is 33rd in the Central Region. Her best finish came at the Diffee Ford Invitational with a fourth place finish and also has two other top 15 finishes on the season.Â
Emilie Jackson has also been terrific on the year, shooting a season-low 69 at the Diffee Ford Invitational, the lowest score in a single round since 2012.
The NCAA Division II women's golf super regional competition will be conducted May 6-8. Each site will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with 12 teams and 6 individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. All participants will compete through the 54 holes of competition. The top four teams along with the top four individuals not with a team from each super regional will advance to the championships.
The championships will be held May 14-18 at PGA National Resort and Spa in West Palm Beach, Florida. The number of participants that qualify for the finals is 96.
