EDMOND, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene women's golf team put together a tremendous performance on Monday afternoon as they shot a season-low 299 (+19) as a team to sit in second place after the first round of the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational.
Emilie Jackson was outstanding as she shot a 69 (-1) in her opening round.
Jackson had two birdies on the day including a chip-in eagle on 15 to sit in second place during the event, only two off the leader Glorida Choi, who shot a 67 (-3) on the day. Jackson shot -2 in Par 5 scoring and -1 in Par 3 scoring.
Bailey Blake shot a 73 (+3) including 13 pars in the round which the led the field while
Sarah Rovenstine shot a 76 (+6) including a pair of birdies on the day.
Kaylee Petersen followed with an 81 (+11) while
Heidi Stafford rounded out the team scoring with an 83 (+13).
Carina Hernandez competed as an individual in the event and finished with an 85 (+15) in the round.
Southwestern Oklahoma State leads the way with a 281 (+1) while SNU sit in seconds. Northwestern Missouri State in third at 313 (+33) while Oklahoma Baptist in fourth at 315 (+35). Harding (329, +49), Southern Arkansas (335, +55), and Southwest Baptist (378, +98) rounded out the team scoring.
SNU will look to build off their big first day as they are back in action tomorrow morning for the final round beginning at 8:30 p.m.
