BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene entered Thursday night one game behind Harding in the Great American Conference standings, and after a 60-55 win inside the Sawyer Center, SNU is in the driver's seat to finish second in the conference standings.

The Crimson Storm (14-11, 13-6 GAC) won their ninth game this season on their home floor, and one could argue it was their biggest win of the year. They held the Bisons (18-7, 13-6 GAC) to 31.3 percent shooting from the floor and forced 18 turnovers out of them as well. SNU turned the ball over just 11 times in the contest and outscored Harding 24-14 in the paint. The Bisons went to the line 29 times while the Storm went just 13 times.

Abby Niehues was sensational across the board once again for Southern Nazarene as the sophomore recorded eight blocks for the second-straight game. She also led the way in scoring for SNU with 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting, hauled in seven rebounds and converted 6-of-8 free-throw attempts.
Irene Perez had a great game for the Storm as well as she scored 12 points and finished 2-for-3 behind the three-point arc. She also tallied four rebounds and four assists as well.

Alexus Jones was the third player for the Storm to finish in double-figure scoring as the sophomore finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists for SNU.

Harding went to the free-throw line eight times in the opening quarter, which gave the Bisons a 15-11 lead through one period. SNU held Harding to 30 percent shooting, but the Storm shot just 27.8 percent in the quarter.
Julia Schwake's three-pointer with 3 seconds left cut the Harding lead to four heading into the second quarter.

The Crimson Storm's offense picked up in the second period as they shot a sizzling 58 percent from the field by slicing through Harding's defense and knocking down a couple of shots from downtown. SNU held the Bisons to under 30 percent shooting and managed to take a 30-27 lead heading into the break.

Southern Nazarene used an 8-0 run to open the third to increase their lead to 38-27 in the opening 1:30. Harding used a 9-0 run midway through the period to close the gap to 41-38, and later cut it to 41-40 with 3:12 to play. Defense took over for both sides down the stretch as the Storm took a 43-42 lead into the final frame.

Both sides turned up the defense in the fourth quarter as both sides combined for 12 points in the opening seven minutes. Perez used a crafty layup with 2:52 to play to cut the Harding lead to 51-50, before Harding knocked down a jumper to make it 53-50 with two minutes left. Next possession down, Perez buried a dagger in the corner to tie the game 53-53. After a couple of buckets, Jones knocked down a floater to give SNU the 57-55 lead with 30 seconds to play.

The Storm defense held strong in the final 30 seconds as SNU closed out its 13
th GAC win of the season.

Southern Nazarene will play its final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon as they host Arkansas Tech with tipoff set for 1 p.m.
