BETHANY - The Southern Nazarene University women's soccer team returned home on Tuesday night to complete a stretch of four games in eight days. The Crimson Storm welcomed the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison to Wes Harmon Field and the Wanda Rhodes Soccer Complex, and SNU competed well with the Bison, but in the end, they came up just short.
SNU (2-7-1, 0-4 GAC) netted a goal with one second to play in the first half, but OBU (5-4-1, 3-1 GAC) tallied twice in the first half, and they added a late insurance goal to take the 3-1 win.
OBU's Kelsi Mensen opened the scoring in the 15th minute, and Emily Griffith added a goal for the Bison in the 33rd minute to double the OBU lead. The 2-0 margin held into the final minute of the half when
Erin Greenslade picked up the ball on the left wing side and lofted a shot into the far side netting with one second left on the clock to cut SNU's halftime deficit to 2-1.
The Crimson Storm had a couple of early chances in the second half, but they were unable to convert them, and OBU added the match's final goal with just under 13 minutes remaining, and the Bison took the win 3-1.
Ashlynn Pritchett made 10 saves in the match for the Crimson Storm in goal.
SNU will hit the road on Thursday, heading to nearby Ada, Oklahoma to take on the Tigers of East Central University (3-5, 1-1 GAC). Kick off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
