BETHANY, Okla. - On a bitterly cold and windy afternoon, the Southern Nazarene Women's Soccer team fell 2-0 at the hands of the Ouachita Baptist Tigers.
What started off as a pretty even matchup, quickly turned when OBU (7-5, 5-2 GAC) decided to impose their will on SNU (2-11, 0-8 GAC) in the first period of play. The Tigers would hold the shot advantage at 22 to the 17 of the Storm. However, Southern Nazarene managed to land eight shots on goal to the seven of Ouachita.
In the 37th minute, Ashlynn Heckman lofted a kick in the high left corner of the goal to bring the score to 1-0. Shortly after, Sydni Perry snuck a goal in the bottom right corner of the net.
The Storm would wake up from their rocky start and put up a defensive wall as they held the Tigers to zero goals in the second half. Statistically for the Storm,
Karsyn Matthews led the way as she recorded four shots, three of those being on goal.
Linda Nigg and Delaney Stewart followed close behind with three shots of their own.
The Southern Nazarene Women's Soccer team will be back at home Saturday, at 1 p.m. to face off against Harding (5-6-1, 4-2 GAC).
