SWOSU notches five goals at Wes Harmon Field to beat SNU

BETHANY – Southern Nazarene University's women's soccer team couldn't hold off the lethal Southwestern Oklahoma State offensive attack as they fell 5-0 on Saturday night at Wes Harmon Field.

The Crimson Storm (2-9-1, 0-6 GAC) were efficient with their shots in the match as they landed six of their eight attempts on target, but the Bulldogs (7-4-1, 4-1-1 GAC) fired 21 shots and landed 16 of those on frame. The Storm tallied 11 saves in goal while SWOSU recorded six.

Delaney Stewart led the SNU offensive attack with two shots on goal while Karsyn Matthews, Rebecca Moore, Hope Berry, and Saira Zamarippa each had one shot on frame as well. Goalkeeper Maci Attalla recorded a career-high 11 saves in the match for the Storm.

Southwestern Oklahoma State wasted no time in getting on the board in Bethany as the Bulldogs notched a goal in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead. After that, the Storm defense held strong and didn't allow anything else in the remaining 39 minutes to face a 1-0 deficit heading into halftime.

In the second half, the SWOSU offense completely broke loose in the final 10 minutes. They scored three goals in a two-minute stretch and added a fifth goal in the 89th minute to break open the game and take the 5-0 victory.

Southern Nazarene will be back in action next Monday as they travel to Ada to take on East Central at 3:00 p.m.
