BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene was in great position to win three straight games for the first time since 2010, but fell short 3-2 in overtime to William Jewell Tuesday afternoon at Wes Harmon Field.

The Crimson Storm (3-6) were able to take a 2-1 lead into halftime, but the Cardinals (3-5) netted a goal in the second half and later in overtime to take the victory. Shots were firing from all over the place as SNU tallied 24 while WJC finished with 17. Both teams landed nine shots on goal in the match as well.

William Jewell got on the board first when they scored on a penalty kick in the 11
th minute. Southern Nazarene came back in the 32
nd minute as senior
Marcel Joseph scored his first goal of the season on a beautiful pass from
Angel Lopez to tie the game 1-1.

Six minutes later, Joseph played a ball to
Cristian Hernandez in the box who fired a laser in the corner of the net which gave SNU the 2-1 lead. The goal was Hernandez's third of the season. The Cardinals tied the game in the 55
th minute with a goal, and the race was on for both sides to get the game-winning goal.

Joseph had a great look with his header in the 88
th minute, but WJC's goalie made an excellent save and the game was pushed to overtime. Eight minutes into overtime, William Jewell got behind the Crimson Storm defense and scored the game-winner.

Colton Hadlock finished with six saves on the afternoon while Joseph landed three of his seven shot attempts on goal. Hernandez also had three shots on goal while
Keegan Radichel,
Bojan Tolmac, and
Angel Lopez each had two.

Southern Nazarene is back at home on Saturday afternoon with another non-conference battle with Fort Hays State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
