BETHANY, Okla. — There was no shortage of hits and runs Friday at Cypert Athletic Complex, as Southern Nazarene split the doubleheader with Arkansas Tech in a 9-3 loss, and a wild 14-13 win.

Despite tallying 10 hits in the opening game of the series, the Crimson Storm only managed to push three runs across the board, as two of those came in the final half-inning as they battled back to get back in the game.

Katelyn Brown got the start in the circle for SNU in the opener, and she took the loss after 4.0 innings of action. She struck out three ATU batters, and allowed six runs, five of those earned.
Mahina Sauer allowed three earned runs and three hits in 3.0 innings of relief.

Sydni Toilolo led the way at the plate for the Crimson Storm as the senior went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Sauer went 2-for-4, while
Riley Brown finished 1-for-3 with an RBI as well.
Kai Sanchez drove in a run and finished 1-for-4 at the plate for SNU.

Arkansas Tech got on the board first, as they scored one run to take the early lead.
Kai Sanchez tied it up in the bottom of the second as she launched her first home run of the season, a solo-shot to center field.

The Golden Suns re-gained the lead in the top of the third, as they scored four runs to take a 5-1 lead over the Storm. ATU added one more run in the fifth, and another in the sixth to push their lead to 7-1. The Suns tacked on two more in the top of the seventh to push it to 9-1. The Storm tried to put pressure on in the bottom of the seventh as they scored two runs to make it 9-3, but ATU shut the door after that.

Both teams stayed hot at the plate in the second game, as Arkansas Tech totaled 19 hits, while Southern Nazarene tallied 13 in that category.
Caitlyn Curlee led the way at the plate for the Storm as the freshman went a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI's and two runs scored.
Mahina Sauer finished 3-for-4 at the plate with one run scored and a pair of RBI's that ended up being the game-winning runs for SNU.

Kriston Shumaker finished 2-for-2 with a couple of singles.

SNU struck first in the second game, as
Katelyn Brown's two-RBI single gave the Storm a 2-0 lead through one inning. The Golden Suns came right back in the top of the second to score seven runs to take the 7-2 lead.

The Storm responded in the bottom of the second in a big way, as they scored six in the inning.
Riley Brown reached on a fielding error that scored two to cut the ATU to lead to 7-4, before Curlee singled that scored two more to make it 7-6. Curlee later scored on a wild pitch that tied the game at 7.
Katelyn Brown then homered to center field to give the Storm an 8-7 lead.

SNU exploded for four more runs in the bottom of the sixth when
Riley Brown drove in two runs to make it 10-7 before Curlee cranked her seventh home run of the season. Curlee's two-run bomb gave the Storm a 12-7 lead heading into the final inning.

Arkansas Tech was not going down without a fight however, as it scored six runs in the top of the seventh to re-take the lead 13-12. The Storm needed at least one run in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, but that thought never crossed their minds. Sauer ripped a double to left-center that scored two runs to give SNU the walk-off win.
