BETHANY, Okla. — Austin Cooper went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored for Southern Nazarene in a 14-11 loss Saturday in the final game of a 3-game series with Oklahoma Panhandle State.

The Crimson Storm (1-2) had 11 runs on 15 hits, but gave up 14 runs on 16 hits.
Jake Vernon was also 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored while
Garrett Perez was 2-for-4 with three run scored.
Jose Gonzales was also 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Southern Nazarene struck first right out of the gate in the bottom of the first with three runs. Perez scored the first one on an attempted double steal.
Tanner Maskey made it 2-0 when he scored on a wild pitch before
Shelby Reese roped a double down the left field line to make it 3-0. The Aggies answered in the top of the second with three to knot it at 3-3 and took the lead in the top of the third with two more.

Panhandle pushed it to 7-3 in the top of the fourth. The Storm cut it to 7-5 in the bottom of the fifth. The first came when Perez scored on an OPSU error and then
Cole Wagner scored on an
Austin Cooper single to left center.

The Aggies added four in the top of the sixth and two in the seventh to lead 13-5. Wagner made it 13-6 when he laced a double to left center to scored Perez before the Storm took advantage of an error to cut it to 13-7. Vernon pushed two more across the plate with a double to left center to bring it to 13-9. Gonzales drove in the final run of the inning with a single to second to make it 13-10.

The Aggies added one insurance run in the top of the ninth to lead 14-10. SNU tried to mount a rally in the bottom of the ninth and got one run on a
Kyle Cross single through the right side, but that was as close as SNU came.

David Gustafson (0-1) took the loss after giving up seven runs, six earned, on six hits. He struck out four in three innings of work.
