BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene split both of its games with Ouachita Baptist to close out the Great American Conference opener, as they won the first game 5-4, and then fell 5-3 in the second.

Katelyn Brown got the start in the opener as the senior threw her fourth complete game of the year. She earned her second win of the season, as she struck out six batters and allowed four runs. Ouachita Baptist totaled 10 hits in the game, as the Crimson Storm notched four hits in the game.

Caitlyn Curlee led the way for SNU at the plate as the freshman went 1-for-3 with 4 RBI's and a run scored.
Sydni Toilolo went 1-for-1 with a walk and two runs scored.
Riley Brown and
Reilly Schlarb each went 1-for-3 at the plate, as Brown also scored a run. All five runs scored by the Crimson Storm came from the home runs by Curlee and Toilolo

The Tigers tallied six hits in the first four innings, but didn't push any runs across the plate as the Crimson Storm struck first in the bottom of the fourth.
Sydni Toilolo sent a bomb over the left field wall to give SNU the 1-0 lead. The homer was Toilolo's first of the season.

Ouachita responded in the top of the sixth with four runs including a two-run homer to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead. The Storm came right back in the bottom of the sixth as
Caitlyn Curlee hit a grand slam over the left field fence to give SNU the 5-4 lead. The home run was the fourth of the season for Curlee.

The Crimson Storm defense held strong in the top of the seventh as SNU earned their first conference win of the season.

Brooke Tate got the start in the final game for Southern Nazarene, as the senior gave up six hits and two runs, just one earned in 3.0 innings of work.
Mahina Sauer took the loss for SNU as she gave up three runs, two of those earned in two innings of action.

 It didn't take long for SNU to get going in the second game, as
Mahina Sauer had a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the first to give the Storm an early 1-0 lead. Ouachita responded in the top of the third with a couple of runs to take the lead 2-1.

 SNU got the lead back in the bottom of the third as
Caitlyn Curlee ripped an RBI double to right-center field to score
Riley Brown and
Sydni Toilolo to give the Storm a 3-2 lead.
 Curlee finished the second game 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI's. Sauer went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Riley Brown went 1-for-2 with a run scored.

The Tigers tied the game in the top of the fifth on a solo-home run to make it 3-3. They tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth on a two-run home run to push the OBU lead to 5-3.

SNU had an opportunity in the bottom of the seventh to make some noise as they loaded the bases, but the Tiger defense held strong.
