Storm Fall at SWOSU

SNU Can't Contain GAC Favorites at the Road

WEATHERFORD, Okla.—It was a rough Saturday afternoon for Southern Nazarene as the Crimson Storm fell in Weatherford to Southwestern Oklahoma State 87-58 at the Pioneer Cellular Events Center.

The Bulldogs (8-1, 3-0 GAC) jumped out to an early lead over the Crimson Storm (1-7, 1-3 GAC) by holding SNU to 1-of-12 (8.3%) shooting in the first quarter.  SNU was unable to find any rhythm in the second quarter either, as they finished the first half shooting just 21% as a team. The Bulldogs carried a 43-19 lead into the break. Reigning GAC Player of the Year, Hailey Tucker led the way for SWOSU with 19 points in the half.

The Crimson Storm played a much tighter second half but were unable to cut into SWOSU's lead. After turning the ball over fifteen times in the first half, SNU only turned it over seven times in the second half.

It was a great night for senior guard Madeline Schroepfer as she was incredibly efficient with her opportunities, scoring 13 points on just two field goal attempts. She also shot 8 of 9 from the free throw line and would add six rebounds and an assist.
Abby Niehues added seven points on 3 of 6 shooting and snagged three rebounds in limited action due to early foul trouble.

Irene Perez also added six rebounds to go with four points. A total of 13 different Crimson Storm players found their way into the scoring column on Saturday night.

After a long road stretch which including seven of their first eight games on the road, the Crimson Storm will finally return home to the Sawyer Center on Friday, December 14th to take face off against rival Oklahoma Christian at 6 p.m.  The Storm won their only prior contest in the Sawyer Center vs. East Central on December 1st by the score of 65-58.
