DURANT, Okla. - Some days, your opponent can't miss.
Other days, you can't buy a bucket.
On this evening in Durant, it was both.
The fifth-ranked Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm could not get anything to fall on Thursday night while Southeastern dominated the boards while shooting over 50% en rout to a 76-43 win at Bloomer Sullivan Arena in Durant.
Southeastern shot 32 of 62 from the field (52%) including 9 of 24 (38%) from deep and 3 of 3 at the line. On the other end, SNU shot 18 of 61 (30%) from the field, 4 of 23 (17%) from behind the arc, and 3 of 7 (43%) from the free throw line. It was a rough night all around for the Crimson Storm.
Southeastern also held a 50-26 advantage on the boards and a 23-11 advantage in assists. Southern Nazarene did force 15 Southeastern turnovers while only turning it over themselves 10 times, but only scored 10 points of those takeaways.
It was a high-paced, action packed first half for the first 12 minutes as Southeastern opened a 20-17 lead over the Crimson Storm with both teams knocking down shots. Leading 23-19 with 7:50 to play, the Savage Storm closed the half on a 15-5 run including an 8-0 to close the half and take a 38-24 lead at the break.
An early
Jhonathan Dunn 3-pointer in the second gave SNU a little hope, but another huge run by Southeastern, this time a 21-4 run in the first seven minutes of the second half made it a 59-28 game.
From there, the Crimson Storm could never recover as Southeastern snapped a 10-game regular season winning streak in dominating fashion.
RJ Palmer went for 13 points, six boards, and two assists on 6 of 12 shooting while Dunn added 10 points.
Chris Stephens scored seven.
For Southeastern, six players were in double figures led by Kevin Buckingham with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Adam Dworsky added 11 points and 12 assists.Â
With the loss, SNU goes to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the GAC. They will look to rebound on Saturday as they head to Weatherford to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State beginning at 3 p.m.
